Gestyy.com Floods Browsers with Unwanted Ads & Redirects to Questionable Websites

Gestyy.com is a website associated with unwanted advertising and intrusive browser redirects. Most of the time, visitors find themselves at Gestyy.com due to a browser redirect or the presence of adware or a potentially unwanted program that may have been installed on their computer without their knowledge. If you see Gestyy.com ads constantly popping up, it may indicate that your computer is infected with adware, browser hijackers or potentially unwanted programs.

The adware associated with Gestyy.com may be installed via software bundles or by hiding inside a fake installer associated with an updater for a popular software product. Users should avoid engaging with ads generated by Gestyy.com, as they may redirect the user to untrustworthy third-party websites. Some of the ads may even redirect users to websites loaded with additional adware, browser hijackers or websites that may lead to harmful content.

The Gestyy.com User Experience

Gestyy.com visitors may be inundated with intrusive pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, coupons and in-text ads whenever they attempt to conduct a search via a web browser. They will also likely see targeted advertising. These targeted ads are chosen based on the user’s browsing habits and history, as adware developers are known to inject tracking objects including cookies, beacons, or pixels to record non-personal information that relates to a user’s browsing history, frequently visited websites, IP addresses, and so on.

According to Gestyy.com’s Privacy Policy, it has permission to record such information. The text of the policy reads in part:“When you visit the Site our servers automatically record information about your use and your visit to the Site (“Log Data”). The Log Data may include information such as your computer Internet Protocol (IP) address, time and date of your requests, your browser type, what software you were using, the web page you were visiting immediately prior to visiting the Site, access times and dates, your location, mobile network information and other statistics.”

With Gestyy.com capturing this information, ads promoting products similar to those you have been browsing for recently might show up. However, it is not recommended that you engage in any alternative offers, as there is a strong possibility that you may be lured to seemingly legitimate websites with exceptional deals that seem too good to be true. Be extra aware of fake reward claims or surveys that request personal or log-in credential information.

When it comes to adware, the most important rule of thumb when dealing with programs that are installed together with other programs (also known as bundled software) is to avoid keeping your downloading or install mode set to “Quick” or “Recommended”. It is far less likely that you will face unwanted software if you change your installation settings to “Custom” or “Advanced” so you can access the option for not installing the adware or potentially unwanted programs.
